Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

- #38395

under 30 minutes
ingredients
1 cup popcorn kernels
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups sugar
food coloring
6 ounces evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
directions
Pop popcorn in air popper; remove to large bowl by hand or cupfulls in order to separate and discard any unpopped kernels.
In a large saucepan, stir together butter, sugar, food coloring and enough evaporated milk to make it stir easily. Bring to a boil; add soda (it will swell up). Pour over popcorn and stir until evenly covered. You can use more or less popcorn to get a heavier or lighter coating.
NOTE: This is kind of a candied popcorn. It turns out almost frosty-sugary, and very good.

This was the first recipe that I tried at this site. The taste was very good, but I wasn't sure if it shouldn't have been boiled longer as it was very sugary and made my popcorn soft. Cute idea-kids loved the idea of colored popcorn. Will try again when I have more time to experiment.
