Want to dress up a simple spice cake? This recipe starts with your favorite spice cake box mix and adds pudding mix to the batter, creating a moist and flavorful upgrade to your basic cake.

1 package (18.25 ounce size) spice cake mix
1 package instant banana, butterscotch, or vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
4 eggs

directions

Blend all ingredients in a large bowl, then beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Bake in a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan at 350 degrees F for 45 to 55 minutes until center springs back when touched lightly.

Cool right side up for about 25 to 30 minutes, then remove from pan.

Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.

    used apple-grape juice instead of water. it was very light and moist. i got lots of compliments and recipe requests at the pot luck.

    I replaced half of the oil with applesauce and I replaced half of the water with vanilla yogurt. It was moist and delicious, I served it with butter pecan ice cream.

    I made the recipe as is but added Gingerbread flavor instant pudding, raisins and walnuts. Drizzled Carmel apple canned frosting over top. Very good!

    I use vanilla pudding mix and instead of putting 10x sugar on it I make a glaze with the 10x and milk.
