Fresh Seared Tuna Sandwich

ingredients
LEMON MAYONNAISE
6 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 lemon, zest of
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
TUNA MARINADE
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons finely-minced garlic
salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
4 yellowfin tuna steaks (about 6 ounce size)
8 slices multi-grain bread, lightly toasted
4 slices ripe tomato
4 leaves Boston lettuce or other delicate lettuce
directions
Combine the Lemon Mayonnaise ingredients in a bowl, then refrigerate.
Combine the marinade ingredients in a bowl. Add the tuna steaks and coat them well. Let rest for up to 30 minutes, turning once.
Heat a grill pan over medium heat. Drain the tuna from the marinade and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side for medium-rare.
To assemble sandwiches, spread one side of each slice of toast with Lemon Mayonnaise. Top half the slices of toast with tuna, a tomato slice and a lettuce leaf. Cover with the remaining slices of toast. Serve immediately.
