ingredients
2 medium onions, peeled, sliced, and cut into rings
3 tablespoons butter
1 package (10-count size) refrigerated buttermilk or home-style biscuits
1 egg
1 package (8 ounce size) sour cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pinch black pepper
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
directions
Melt the butter in a medium frying pan and saute onions until just soft.
Separate the biscuits and place in a single layer in an ungreased 8-inch layer cake or square baking pan. Press together to cover bottom completely. Spoon the onion mixture over the biscuits.
Beat the egg in a small bowl and blend in the sour cream, salt and pepper. Pour over the onions and spread evenly. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Bake for 30 minutes in a 375 degrees F oven or until topping is set. Slice into wedges and serve warm or cold.
