30-60 minutes
ingredients
2 1/4 cups water
1 cup converted white rice
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup shredded carrot
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
directions
In a 2 quart saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Stir in the rice and turmeric and return to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the water is absorbed, about 20 to 25 minutes.
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper and carrot, cook, stirring, until soft, about 4 to 6 minutes.
Add the barbecue sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Add the rice and cook, stirring, until all the ingredients are combined and the rice is heated through.
