ingredients

2 cups freshly cooked french fries (crinkle cut preferred)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or any other cheese)
4 slices bacon, partially cooked and chopped
chopped fresh parsley
sour cream

directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Place the cooked french fries on an oven-proof pan. Top with the shredded cheese and chopped bacon.

Place in oven and cook until the cheese is melted and bacon is crisp, about 8-10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and top with a sprinkling of parsley and a dollop or two of sour cream.

Serve hot.

recipe tips

For extra flavor, season the cooked french fries with salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you like before adding the toppings.

Try different cheese blends or add a sprinkle of Parmesan for additional flavor.

If you prefer a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and add your favorite veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms.

To make the loaded fries more substantial, add cooked ground beef or shredded chicken as an additional topping.

Try adding a drizzle of hot sauce or BBQ sauce on top for a spicy kick.

common recipe questions

What type of fries work best for this recipe?

Crinkle cut fries are preferred for this recipe, but any freshly cooked french fries will work including regular or curly fries (or even tater tots!).

Can I use a different type of cheese?

You can use any type of cheese you prefer just as long as it is melty.

Can I customize the toppings on the loaded fries?

Yes, feel free to add additional toppings like sliced jalapenos, diced tomatoes, green onions, or even a drizzle of BBQ sauce.

Can I prepare the loaded fries in advance?

It is best to serve the loaded fries immediately after assembling and baking them or they may become soggy.

How should I store leftover loaded fries?

Store any leftover loaded fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat them in the oven. They won't be quite as good as freshly baked because the fries will absorb moisture from the toppings.

What is Hammerstone's?

Hammerstone's is a blues bar/cafe in St. Louis, Missouri that is known for having live music and serving primarily happy hour/bar food (like these delicious loaded fries).
