directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare glaze (see below) and set aside to cool slightly while preparing cookies.
In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar and salt. With pastry blender, cut in butter until particles are very fine. Beat egg well with fork, then add to crumb mixture, stirring to mix well. With hands, work mixture until ingredients hold together.
Press evenly on the bottom of a buttered 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan. Pour glaze over the top and spread evenly. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until light brown.
Cool in pan on a cake rack, then cut into 2 x 1 inch strips. Store airtight in a cool place. Can be frozen.
For Honey Almond Glaze: In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, brandy, honey, almond extract and almonds. Bring to a full boil, stirring.
