This simple dish is made with your choice of pasta, garlic, olive oil, and lots of fresh Parmesan cheese.
1 box (12 ounce size) pasta, your favorite style
1/4 cup olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
salt and pepper, to taste
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until it is fragrant and just starting to brown a little (do not let it burn). Remove the skillet from the heat and let the garlic sit in the warm oil.
Cook the pasta as directed on the package. Drain well and place in a serving bowl.
Pour the garlic and oil over the pasta. Add the grated cheese and toss to coat the pasta in the oil and cheese. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
Use high-quality olive oil for the best flavor.
Be careful not to brown the garlic too much, as it can become bitter.
Toss the pasta well to make sure each strand is coated with the oil and cheese.
Sprinkle toasted breadcrumbs or pine nuts on top before serving.
Try different types of cheeses like Pecorino Romano or Asiago for variety.
Don't skimp on the Parmesan cheese - the quality and quantity will greatly impact the overall taste of the dish.
This recipe works with a wide variety of pasta shapes. You can use long, thin pasta like spaghetti or angel hair, or shorter pasta such as elbow macaroni or rotini.
While pre-grated Parmesan cheese is convenient, freshly grated Parmesan will offer a better flavor and texture to the dish.
You can add protein such as grilled chicken, shrimp, or crumbled sausage to make the dish more substantial.
You can use flavored olive oil such as garlic-infused or herb-infused for extra flavor in the dish.
Leftover pasta can be reheated in a skillet with a splash of water or broth to prevent it from drying out.
While the dish is best served fresh, you can prepare the components ahead of time and quickly assemble before serving.

I sauteed some shrimp along with the garlic and added that to the pasta. Delish!
Sounds lovely. I would also add spinach & chicken. So easy, & so good!

Love the simplicity of this recipe. The ratios of the ingredients are perfect. Not too much garlic, and plenty of cheese. Good as a side dish or as the directions say, add some protein to make it an entree.
