The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/3 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 can (14.5 ounce size) Italian diced or stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 can (14.5 ounce size) chicken broth
2/3 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 teaspoon dried basil or thyme
3 bay leaves
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 package (8 ounce size) spiral pasta
2 cups cubed cooked chicken, turkey or pork
directions
In a skillet, saute onion, peppers and celery in butter until tender. Stir in tomatoes, broth, mushrooms and seasonings. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions.
Add chicken to tomato mixture and heat through.
Drain pasta and add to chicken mixture. Discard bay leaves.
