ingredients

1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons oil
onion or vegetable slices

directions

Combine first five ingredients and beat until lumps are gone.

Use to coat onion rings or vegetable slices with batter. Fry, a few at a time, in hot fat - stirring to separate - until golden.

Drain on paper toweling. Sprinkle with salt. Fat should be 360 degrees F for frying.
