Cabbage Chop Suey

ingredients
2 tablespoons shortening
3 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup thinly sliced celery
1 cup thinly sliced green bell pepper
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
directions
Heat shortening in a heavy skillet. Add all vegetables. Cover skillet, lower heat and cook slowly for about 5 minutes.
Add seasonings and cook 1 minute longer, stirring gently. Serve at once while vegetables are still crisp.
