1 tablespoon butter or margarine, cut in bits

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Slice the cabbage into 1/2-inch thick slices. Slice the onion thinly.
Layer the cabbage, onion, and diced bacon in a baking pan. Add enough stock to fill the dish about 1/2-inch full.

Cover the pan with foil and place in the oven. Bake at 325 degrees F for 30-40 minutes or until the cabbage is tender.
Remove from the oven and serve hot.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Veryn Good We microwaved the 1/2 pound of bacon for 2 minutes. The 2 cm equals almost 1 inch. Cooked it for 50 to 60 minutes.

I added finely chopped mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. Plus Cavendar's greek seasoning, ham and turkey bacon. This was the best cabbage I have ever tasted.
