Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
Polenta Dolce

Polenta doesn't have to just be a savory side dish. Try this version, topped with sugar, as a sweet treat.

under 30 minutes
ingredients
4 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3/4 cup instant polenta
sugar, to taste
directions
Combine the milk and salt in a 3-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer then add the butter.
Stir the milk mixture well. While stirring, very slowly add the instant polenta. Stir until the mixture is smooth and starts to bubble.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring constantly, until the polenta is thick and begins to pull away from the sides. Serve immediately or cook until desired thickness (the longer you cook it, the thicker it will get).
Serve the polenta in bowls with sugar, as desired, sprinkled on top.
