Not only does the wild rice turn out perfectly every time, it requires little attention from the cook once it's in the oven.

ingredients

4 cups boiling water
2 cups raw wild rice, rinsed several times in cold water

directions

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

Combine the boiling water and wild rice in a baking dish with an oven-safe cover (or cover tightly with foil). Place in the preheated oven.

Turn the oven off. Let the wild rice sit in the oven overnight (or for 8-10 hours). Do not open the oven or remove the cover until the time is up.

Remove the rice from the oven and remove the cover. Fluff the rice with a fork.

Serve the wild rice as is or use in other recipes.

  1. gloria J REVIEW:

Best way to cook wild rice. Just needs planning ahead. No watching or worrying. I add a couple bullion cubes to the boiling water for extra flavor.

I tried this just to see if it would work. It did and the rice was perfectly done, but you can get the same results by following the directions on the package and have cooked rice in about an hour instead of overnight. Rating it a 4 because it did work but it's an unnecessary process unless you have a particular need to cook it this way.
