ingredients

2 1/2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules (optional)
1 chicken, cooked, off the bone
2 cups broth

directions

Combine the chicken and broth (and bouillon granules if desired) and bring to a boil.

Add enough milk to the flour, eggs, baking powder and salt to make a stiff dough. Roll out a little thicker than a pie crust.

Cut into squares and drop in boiling broth. Cook 10 minutes with lid on.

  1. drcate4 REVIEW:

If one follows the directions, the recipe is pretty good.

Saw this recipie on another site a few yrs ago. I believe it included instructions for cooking the chicken with some onion, garlic, salt+pepper and maybe a bay leaf. Also called for a little heavy cream or 1/2+1/2 in the broth at end of cooking

I think whoever submitted this recipe may have left some steps out..like what to do with the chicken meat. Would love to know how it's suppose to be though.

    • The directions are a little vague but it says 1 chicken, cooked, off the bone with 2 cups broth (note the "with"). It means to bring the broth and chicken to a boil and then drop the dumpling mixture on top.
