Keeping a can of frozen orange juice concentrate in the freezer means you can make more than just orange juice. Try it in a variety of orange-flavored recipes.

This recipe takes a couple of days to "sour" so it won't work for a sour cream emergency but it's a great way to make your own sour cream to have on hand (it will last 3 weeks in the fridge).
2 cups light cream
2 tablespoons buttermilk
Combine cream with buttermilk in hot, clean glass jar with a lid. (Canning jar that has been heating in boiling water, for instance.)
Cover tightly and shake gently to thoroughly mix. Let stand in a warm place - like where you put bread to rise) till thickened (24-48 hours). Store, covered in refrigerator. Stir before serving.
Use within three weeks.

Love buffalo wings? Get that same hot, zippy flavor in everything from deviled eggs to enchiladas. And of course: wings.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
