serves/makes:

ready in:
  2-5 hrs

ingredients

1 1/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 jar (16 ounce size) applesauce
whipped cream or ice cream

directions

Grease a 1-quart round or oblong baking dish (the dish needs to fit in your crock pot so choose a shape that will fit).

Combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl and mix well. Fill the baking dish with the applesauce. Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the applesauce. Place the baking dish in the crock pot. Pour a small amount of water around the outside of the baking dish, making sure not to get any water inside the dish. The level of the water shouldn't come up more than 1/4 of the height of the baking dish.

Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 2-3 hours or until heated through and bubbly.

Carefully remove the baking dish from the crock pot (the water will be very hot and can easily burn you). Let the apple pudding cool slightly then serve while warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

crock pot notes

Crock pots/slow cookers all heat differently. There is no standard among manufacturers. Cooking times are suggested guidelines based on our testing. Please adjust cooking times and temps to work with your brand and model of slow cooker.

recipe tips

Make individual puddings

Divide the applesauce between 8-ounce ramekins instead of using one larger baking dish. Cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until bubbly.
