Macadamia Nut Cream Pie

ingredients
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 3/4 cups milk
3 egg yolks
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup chopped macadamia nuts
1 pie shell, baked
1/2 pint whipping cream
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
directions
Combine sugar and flour in a saucepan. Stir while very slowly adding milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat, cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
Beat egg yolks. Add 1 cup of heated mixture to the egg yolks, stirring in a tablespoon at a time.
Return egg mixture to saucepan. Return saucepan to medium heat. Stir to the boiling point, then boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in butter, vanilla and nuts.
Pour into pie shell. Chill for several hours.
Whip cream until soft peaks form. Add sugar and vanilla. Spread on chilled pie. Top of pie can be decorated with more macadamia nuts, if desired.
