This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

You've gotta have a go-to mashed potato recipe, and this one is a winner. The creamy, garlicky result is convincing enough on its own, but the convenience of the crockpot is a game changer.

2 pounds baking potatoes, unpeeled, cut in 1/2-inch cubes
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons butter, cut in bits
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup milk, more as needed
Combine the potato cubes, water, butter, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in the crock pot. Stir well.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 5 hours or until the potatoes are soft. Add the milk to the crock pot and mash the potatoes with a potato masher or electric mixer. Mix until smooth.
Add more milk if needed for desired consistency. Serve hot.

What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
