- #42945

1-2 hrs
ingredients
1 box (8-12 serving size) instant mashed potato flakes
1 1/2 cup butter or margarine
12 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese
1 box lasagna noodles
5 onions
directions
Make lasagna first. Boil noodles for 8 minutes; rinse with cold water, drain and let set. Make mashed potatoes; saute 5 onions in butter on low heat until onions are soft. Grate cheese and add to the potatoes; add onions and butter mixture, reserving a bit of cheese for topping.
In 9X13 pan, layer butter on bottom of pan, then lasagna noodles, then potato mixture. After 3 layers (lasagna on top), spread remaining butter and onions on top. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for about 30-40 minutes.
cook's notes
The layers of the potato mixture should not be more than 1/2-inch deep.
