Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

- #127994
2-5 hrs
ingredients
2 cups freshly hulled strawberries, each cut into 4 wedges
1 cup fresh seedless grapes, halved
1 cup tiny cantaloupe balls, or any desired melon
2 medium kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
2 medium apples, cored and diced
Marinade
1/4 cup Amaretto
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon lime or lemon juice
1 tablespoon sugar
directions
Into a large salad bowl, mix together strawberry wedges, grape halves, cantaloupe or melon balls, kiwi slices and apple dices.
Into a cup, mix together marinade Amaretto, honey and fruit juice. Slowly pour marinade over fruit pieces; stir delicately, just enough to mix and coat fruit pieces mixture.
Taste fruits; if needed, sprinkle all over with sugar and stir. Refrigerate until really cold, for quite a few hours if possible for even more taste. Serve salad and juice over ice cream or top with whipped cream and toasted nuts.
