Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

5 rolls multi-colored Lifesavers candy
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Mix sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Roll dough to 1/8-inch on floured board. Cut into shapes; use 1 cutter for shape, another for outline. Place on large, foil covered, cookie sheets.
Crush Lifesavers and place in cut outs. Bake until very light brown and candy is melted, 7 to 9 minutes.
Use metal spatula to spread melted candy to edge of cut outs, if necessary.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

These are my kids favorite cookies. Forget chocolate chip, forget peanut butter. My kids love these! We use rootbeer flavored candy usually but they also like some of the fruit flavors.
