The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1/2 pound butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup nuts, finely chopped
1/3 cup chocolate chips
directions
Combine first 3 ingredients and boil, stirring constantly until it thickens and looks like a brown paper bag.
Pour on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Let melt and spread smooth over the mixture.
Let cool and harden. Break into pieces.
