1 pound coarsely chopped walnuts

Algerian Variation
1 pound dried figs
1 pound dried pitted dates
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon aniseed
1/2 pound coarsely chopped nuts
confectioners' sugar
directions
Blend pitted dates in a food processor and reduce to a paste, then work in walnuts.
Shape into marble-sized balls and roll in confectioners' sugar. They will keep well for weeks and are good to serve with coffee.
For Algerian Variation: Blend figs, dates, honey and aniseed in the food processor then work in coarsely chopped nuts.
