ingredients
2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1 pound dates, chopped
directions
Mix together the sugar, milk and butter. Bring to a boil, cooking to soft ball stage (234 degrees F on a candy thermometer). Add dates and stir until mixture pulls away from sides of pan.
Remove from heat and add nuts and coconut. Mix. Roll into a long roll. Wrap in a damp towel and roll again to desired diameter or about 1 1/2 inches.
Cool until hardened, then slice in thin slices (may be rolled into balls if preferred).
