Croissant Dough Dessert Rolls

30-60 minutes
ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 pint heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a cookie sheet with rim, or other large baking pan that has sides.
Separate croissant triangles and lay out flat on greased baking sheet. Butter lightly. Sprinkle each with about 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar per triangle. Roll up and curve in classic croissant shape. Sprinkle top of each crescent with a bit more sugar.
Add 2 tablespoons granulated sugar to the pint of heavy whipping cream and shake well, just long enough to dissolve the sugar. Drizzle entire pint of cream over the tops of the rolls.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from pan immediately to a rack to cool. (If you don't, they'll really stick.) Scrape out any of the caramelized cream that remains in pan and spread on top of rolls. Serve while warm.
cook's notes
These reheat beautifully the next day in a microwave, in about 30 seconds or so. If any last long enough to need to be reheated. They usually don't...
A very simple dessert I found in a local newspaper about 20-some years ago. Uses the refrigerator-type crescent rolls, but should be even better made with home-made dough! I love croissants. Especially these.
