- #13053

ingredients
4 cups flour
2 tablespoons yeast
1 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup melted shortening (may use butter)
1 3/4 cup warm milk
directions
Add yeast to warm milk and let sit 1 minute; stir and add melted shortening.
Have dry ingredients ready and add to milk. Slowly mix on medium speed until the dough no longer sticks to the side of the bowl.
Place dough in a well-greased bowl and let rise until doubled in bulk. Stir down and form into rolls (note that dough is sticky) and let them rise again. Bake at 425 degrees F until brown and brush with butter while hot.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

The rolls were easy to make and the instructions are fine. They lacked a little flavor we felt, but overall were good. Texture was a bit crumbly, but very moist.

I remember the rolls that were served in the school's cafeteria and this are just like them. Ready to make another batch for Xmas. Thanks.
