ingredients

1 1/4 cup sweet cream
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 1/8 cups flour

directions

Beat eggs, add sugar and sweet cream. Combine with sifted dry ingredients. Mix well and roll out 3/8 inch thick. Cut with doughnut cutter and let stand 1 hour.

Fry in deep fat at 375 degrees F until brown on both sides. Roll in sugar.

NOTE: If a fat frying thermometer is unavailable, test temperature of fat by dropping a 1/2 inch cube of bread into it. It should brown in 1 minute.
