ingredients
vegetable oil
12 slices white bread
8 slices Gruyere cheese
1/2 pound sliced cooked ham
1 tablespoon prepared mustard, PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/2 pound sliced cooked chicken breast
4 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup milk
directions
Heat oil in an electric deep fryer to 400 degrees F.
Place a slice of cheese on a slice of bread and top with ham slice. Spread with mustard and top with another piece of bread. Cover with another slice of cheese, chicken and last piece of bread. Repeat for remaining sandwiches.
Cut triple decker sandwich into quarters and secure with toothpicks.
Combine egg and milk in a bowl. Dip sandwich quarters into egg mixture, coating all sides. Deep fry 3-4 minutes until golden. Drain on absorbent paper.
Remove toothpicks before serving.
