Thanksgiving Yam And Apple Casserole

ingredients
2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled cored & sliced
2 cans (16 ounce size) yams, drained
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 10 inch round pan/dish.
Process yams in food processor with 2 tablespoons batter, sugar, corn syrup, sherry, cinnamon and salt until smooth.
Spread 1/2 of mixture in dish; arrange 1/2 of apples; repeat. Brush with remaining butter; cover and refrigerate if made ahead. Bring to room temperature before baking.
Bake 30 minutes uncovered. Perfect with your holiday turkey.
