These brie kisses might be better than the real thing. Creamy brie wrapped in puff pastry and topped with a sizzle of hot pepper jelly is certainly a great way to express your love for somebody.
serves/makes:
ready in: 30-60 minutes
ingredients
2/3 pound Brie cheese 1 package (2 sheet size) puff pastry 8 teaspoons hot pepper jelly, or as needed
directions
Let the puff pastry sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a miniature muffin tin.
Unfold the puff pastry sheets and roll each one lightly with a rolling pin. Cut each sheet into quarters. Cut each quarter in half. Cut each piece in half again. You should have 16 squares from each puff pastry sheet.
Fit the dough squares into the greased muffin cups so the points of the squares are pointing up.
Slice off the rind and cut the brie into 1/2-inch cubes. Place a cube of cheese in each dough-lined muffin cup. Top each piece of cheese with 1/4 teaspoon of the hot pepper jelly.
Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake at 400 degrees F for 10-15 minutes or until the puff pastry is light golden brown and the brie is soft.
Remove from the oven and serve warm or at room temperature.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
