This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

This cookout chili is sure to be a hit. It's got no shortage of flavor: green chiles, Mexican oregano, and chili caribe spice up a mix of beef and kidney beans in a zesty tomato sauce. It might end up being your cook-off chili, too!

1 pound beef chuck, hamburger grind
1 bell pepper
4 fresh whole green chiles
1 jalapeno pepper, pickled
2 scallions, coarsely chopped
1 can (16 ounce size) tomato sauce
1 can (8 ounce size) corn, optional
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, Mexican preferred
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon hot red chili flakes
1 teaspoon chili caribe (crushed, dried red New Mexican chiles)
1 can (16 ounce size) kidney beans
Form the meat into hamburger patties. Over a grill, charcoal broil the hamburgers until they are medium rare on the inside and nicely crisp on the outside. Set them aside to cool.
Lightly roast the bell pepper, green chiles and jalapeno (if fresh) over the fire. Prepare parched red or green chilies according to succeeding recipe, then finely chop all the peppers.
Crumble the hamburgers into a large skillet or Dutch oven and add the peppers and the remaining ingredients to the meat. Simmer over the fire for at least 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Taste and adjust seasonings.
