It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

This homemade concoction is a balanced blend of spices to boost your turkey's flavor. Its perfect for rubbing inside the turkey's cavity and under the skin.

1/3 cup paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon dried onions
water as needed
Combine the paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried onions in a bowl. Add enough water to make a very spreadable paste. Divide the mixture in half.
Rub half of the paste inside the cavity of the turkey and under the skin. Thin the remaining half of the paste with additional water and use as a baste during the roasting time (use a basting brush to brush it on the skin of the turkey).
This is enough for a 13-15 lb. turkey.
