When it comes to pretty in pink, no cocktail beats a cosmo. Normally it's made with vodka, but using a good quality dry gin instead adds an herbal twist that might just change your next drink order.

ingredients

2 ounces cranberry juice
1 1/2 ounce dry gin
1 ounce triple sec
1 strip (2-inch size) lemon peel
1 lime slice

directions

Combine the cranberry juice, gin, and Triple sec in a shaker with ice. Shake well.

Strain the gin cosmopolitan into a chilled martini glass.

Twist the lemon peel over the gin cosmo so it gives off some of the essence. Garnish the glass with the twist and lime slice and serve immediately.

recipe tips

Chill your martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes before serving to keep your drink colder for longer.

If you prefer a sweeter cosmopolitan, adjust the amount of cranberry juice or add a small amount of simple syrup.

For a decorative touch, rim the glass with sugar before pouring the drink.

Experiment with different brands of gin to find the flavor you like the best.

Shake the cocktail vigorously so it's well mixed and chilled.

If you want a bit more citrus flavor, squeeze the lime slice into the drink before adding it as a garnish.

Serve immediately after mixing for best results.

common recipe questions

What's the best type of gin to use for this recipe?

A good quality dry gin is recommended. Brands like Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphire, or Hendrick's work well.

Can I make this cocktail in advance?

It's best made fresh, but you can mix the cranberry juice, gin, and triple sec ahead of time and refrigerate. Just add ice and shake before serving.

Can I substitute the triple sec with another liqueur?

Cointreau or any orange-flavored liqueur can be a good substitute.

How do I get the lemon peel to twist properly?

Use a vegetable peeler or zester to get a thin strip of lemon peel, then twist it over the drink to release the oils.

This is a classic cosmo. It's perfect! Don't change the proportions and you'll get to experience the REAL drink not some gimmicky version of it. This is my favorite drink!!
