Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

2 cans (4 ounce size) chopped green chilies
1 can (16 ounce size) stewed tomatoes
6 cups water
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon Mexican oregano or dried cilantro
2 teaspoons garlic salt
1 can chopped jalapeno peppers (to taste)

Add the peppers to the tomatoes and add to meat. Stir in water and rest of your seasonings. Salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, turn down and simmer for at least 30 minutes.
Serve over burritos and save the rest for a dish to eat with a warm tortilla.

I followed the recipe but then put it in the crock pot to finish cooking. I only used half the jalapenos called for and it was quite spicy.
