Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

I used home cooked chicken and omitted the broccoli (my can't won't touch it but it will eat carrots so I added more of those). I used canned carrots because they are so much softer. My cat just had dental surgery so can't eat the dry food she normally loves and she can't stand canned cat food but she did like this. Never thought I'd be cooking homemade food for my cat but I am. Hope she will go back to eating dry food after being spoiled by this for a week.
