Good German Cabbage Salad

ingredients
1 small head cabbage, shredded
6 slices bacon
3 green onions, sliced
2 tablespoons mild vinegar
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sugar
salt and pepper, to taste
2 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
directions
Shred cabbage and soak in ice water a half hour or longer. Drain thoroughly.
Dice bacon and fry until crisp. Remove bacon with slotted spoon and add onion, vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and pepper to drippings. Bring to boil and pour over cabbage.
Sprinkle bacon over top and garnish with slices of hard-boiled egg.
