Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

This strawberry salad with just-sweet-enough poppyseed dressing is the perfect accompaniment to grilled anything for a summery backyard picnic lunch.
Dressing
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon minced dried onion
Salad
10 ounces fresh spinach, torn into bite-size pieces
1 quart strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered
In a bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire, and onion. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator. Chill for one hour.
When ready to serve, add the spinach, strawberries, and almonds to a bowl. Toss with the chilled dressing and serve immediately.
