common recipe questions

Can I make this bread without a bread machine?

Yes, you can mix the ingredients by hand or with a stand mixer, let the dough rise until doubled, shape it, let it rise again, and then bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F for about 30-35 minutes.

What can I substitute for beer?

You can use non-alcoholic beer or soda water, but the flavor will change.

Is it necessary to use lukewarm water?

Yes, lukewarm water helps to activate the yeast.

Can I use a different type of flour?

You can use bread flour for a chewier texture, or a mix of whole wheat and all-purpose flour for a heartier bread.

How do I know when the bread is done baking?

The bread is done when it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom and has an internal temperature of about 190-200 degrees F.

Can I add other ingredients to this bread?

Yes, you can add ingredients like herbs, cheese, or sun-dried tomatoes for different flavors.

What can I use instead of sugar?

You can use honey or maple syrup as a natural sweetener.

How should I store the beer bread?

Store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.

Can I prepare this bread dough ahead of time?

You can prepare the dough and let it undergo a slow rise in the refrigerator before baking.

Is there a way to make this bread gluten-free?

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend and gluten-free beer.

tools needed

Bread Machine: The bread machine allows for automatic mixing, kneading, and baking of the beer bread.

Measuring Cups and Spoons: For measuring the ingredients, including water, beer, oil, sugar, salt, and flour.

Cooling Rack: For allowing the bread to cool down after being removed from the bread pan.

Airtight Container: For storing the baked and cooled bread.

what goes with it?

Beer Cheese Soup: Pair a hearty bowl of restaurant-style beer cheese soup with slices of your beer bread. The creaminess of the soup and the crusty texture of the bread will make for an indulgent combo that's hard to resist.

Bruschetta: Use the beer bread as a base for bruschetta topped with diced tomatoes, basil, and balsamic drizzle. The slight sweetness of the beer bread complements the acidity of the tomatoes.

Pulled Pork Sandwich: Serve your beer bread as a bun for pulled pork sandwiches. The dense texture will hold the juicy filling well.

Hummus: Toast slices of beer bread and serve them with a variety of hummus flavors. The earthy and nutty tones of hummus pair well with the nuttiness that a good beer imparts to the bread.

Cheese Platter: Serve your beer bread alongside a selection of cheeses, particularly sharp or smoked varieties.

Breakfast Toast: Top toasted beer bread with avocado and a poached egg for a trendy breakfast. The slight sweetness of the bread acts as a great counterbalance to the savory toppings.

Savory Bread Pudding: Use a loaf of beer bread to make a bread pudding side dish such as this herby, garlicky Gorgonzola bread pudding.

  1. milwimom REVIEW:

This bread had a very nice texture. If you are looking for the flavor of the Tastefully Simple beer bread, this recipe is not it. There was no beer flavor detectable.

    • Will depend what kind of beer you use. For more beer flavor use a darker or more full-bodied beer.
