Cotton candy, first known as Fairy Floss and currently known in Britain as candy floss, looks and feels a bit weird. This aerated spun sugar requires special machinery that uses centrifugal force to send melted sugar and a little food coloring through pin holes and onto paper cone handles. The resulting confection is sweet on the tongue and sticky on the face and fingers. It's perfect for kids, in that respect! Happy National Cotton Candy Day!
