Vanilla Wafer Banana Cream Pie

ingredients
Vanilla Wafer Pie Crust
1 1/2 cup finely crushed vanilla wafer cookies
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
Filling
1 large box instant or regular banana pudding and pie filling mix
2 large ripe bananas, sliced
1 container (12 ounce size) frozen non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
Maraschino cherries, drained well (optional)

For Vanilla Wafer Pie Crust: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine ingredients well, and press on bottom and up sides of pie pan. Bake in oven for 10 minutes. Let crust cool completely before filling.
For Filling: Cover bottom of pie shell with banana slices.
Line sides of prepared pie pan with whole vanilla wafer cookies. Prepare banana pudding. Add banana pudding to fill. Spread evenly and chill well.
Top with a layer of whipped cream or non-dairy whipped topping immediately before serving. Garnish with additional banana slices or maraschino cherries.
