over 5 hrs
ingredients
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup prepared mustard
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 tablespoon salt
Barbecue Rib Rub
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup paprika
1/4 cup dry mustard
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup cumin powder
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon lemon zest, dried
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup salt
directions
Approximately 24 hours before cooking time, rub 2 racks of ribs with Barbecue Rib Rub. Seal them in a plastic bag and refrigerate them.
Mix all of the above ingredients together and simmer them for a few minutes to blend the flavors.
Place the ribs, bone side up on a baking sheet or flat roaster. Baste them with the sauce and put them into a 250 degrees F oven. Cover with foil to slow browning.
After three hours, remove foil if they are not brown enough. Baste them every thirty minutes until done. After one hour, turn them so the meat side is up! They will take 3-4 hours to cook and when done will be pleasantly browned and tender. Cut into 2 or 3 rib sections and enjoy. They may be grilled over charcoal, be sure to have a nice low fire!

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
