Fluffy orange frosting with a light citrus flavor. Perfect for frosting cakes or cupcakes.
3 tablespoons butter, softened
3 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
4 tablespoons orange juice, or as needed
orange food coloring, as needed
1 1/2 teaspoon finely grated orange peel
1 pinch salt
Combine the butter and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl. Mix on medium-high speed until fluffy.
Add the orange juice, one tablespoon at a time, with the mixer running until it is the right spreading consistency.
Add the food coloring a drop at a time with the mixer running until desired color is achieved. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Mix in the orange peel and salt until just mixed.
