3 quarts water
1/2 pound bacon, cut in pieces
1 package (16 ounce size) dry split peas
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 carrots, peeled and chopped
3 celery stalks, chopped
3 cups canned tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1 medium onion, chopped
directions
Combine all ingredients in the crock pot the night before. Cook on low all night. Soup will be ready for lunch the next day.
