Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

3 ounces frozen or canned crab meat
1/3 cup butter or margarine
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced into -inch pieces
2 packets (1 ounce size) Knorr Newburg Sauce Mix

directions
Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain and rinse lightly with cold water to prevent it sticking together, and set aside. Sort crab meat to remove any shell pieces.
Melt butter or margarine in a heavy, 3-quart, non-aluminum sauce pan. Add mushrooms and saute 3 minutes. Add sauce mix and stir well. Add milk, water and wine. Stir well with a wire whip over moderate heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer 5-8 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add the green onions, precooked pasta and crab meat. Stir to combine. Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.

Keeping a can of frozen orange juice concentrate in the freezer means you can make more than just orange juice. Try it in a variety of orange-flavored recipes.
Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

Does Knorr still make its Newburg Sauce Mix? I'm having trouble finding it at my local supermarket or elsewhere...
