I've always had a soft spot for malts, ever since a kid. Getting the ratio of malted milk powder to liquid is key. You want it to have malt flavor without overtaking it. This ratio is just right. You can also use chocolate ice cream or make this a vanilla malted by omitting the chocolate syrup.

Just like the name says, this rich dessert is made with bread and essentially a custard sauce which is baked until set. Some of the variations on the basic recipe use croissants, pound cake, or even doughnuts instead of bread.
