Apple Pie With Red Hots And Walnuts

ingredients
6 cups apples, thinly sliced, peel
2/3 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup cinnamon red hot candies
1/3 cup sugar, PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup flour
2 frozen deep dish pie crusts
directions
In large bowl, toss together apples, walnuts, candies, 1/3 cup sugar and flour. Pour into one frozen pie crust.
Break or crumble the other frozen pie crust into very small pieces; toss with remaining 2 Tb. sugar. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake in preheated 375 degrees F oven on a preheated baking sheet 55-60 minutes or until candies melt and bubble through the crumbled crust. Cool completely before serving.
If you want to simplify your life you can use a can of apple pie filling and nobody but you will notice the difference.
