Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

I will make this again! This is a great change from the standard pumpkin pie. After baking an hour, the knife came out clean, but the cake still had a jiggle to it so I ended up baking for 1hr 20 min and it looked a little dark on top, but it actually was perfect!
