Sweet And Sour Pickled Garlic

1 cup sugar
2 cups brown cider vinegar
3 cups garlic cloves
directions
Bring sugar and vinegar to a boil in a sauce pan. Add garlic. Return to boil, and boil 2-3 minutes
Remove from heat and put in qt. size canning jar. Let cool on counter, then cap and refrigerate for 4 weeks
For easy peeling-soak cloves in a pan of water (15-20 min.)

I have tried several pickled garlic recipes from the web and the ones which boil the garlic produce a rather limp product to my liking (I did not overboil). This recipe does not call for salt, but I did not like the ones that did. I prefer a hot sweet/sour solution with rice vinegar and no salt poured over the garlic without boiling. More like how you would pickle ginger, but use garlic.
