Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

The perfect sweet and spicy salsa, with a bit of an Asian flair. Serve with grilled fish or seafood, or with tortilla chips as an appetizer.
1-2 hrs

4 large tangerines
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon minced green onion
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 tablespoon seeded and chopped habanero pepper

Peel and seed the tangerines. Separate the sections and then cut them into small pieces. Place the tangerine pieces in a non-reactive bowl.
Add the hoisin sauce, ginger, cilantro, green onion, lime juice, and habanero pepper. Mix well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salsa for 1-2 hours before serving.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
